- Thesis title:
Use of Local Materials for Enhanced Oil Recovery
Contribution to knowledge:
The study introduced a novel surfactant that can substitute Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate effectively and efficiently. The study also screened several local alkalis, surfactants and polymers as EOR agents and established that the best performing local alkali, local surfactant and local polymer are akanwu, paw-paw leaves extract and okro respectively. The study discovered that the best local EOR method for Niger Delta crude and reservoir conditions are alkaline and polymer flooding. The work also identified saw dust ash, nkankan, purified palm bunch ash, paw-paw leaves extract, bitterleaf extract and ukpo as EOR agents.
