- Thesis title:
A Study of Selected Nanoparticles in Fines Migration Control
Contribution to knowledge:
The Study developed a 3-D model which can effectively predict the hydrodynamic force responsible for the dislodgement and migration of fine particles in glass beads and sands. The developed model can be applied in modeling 3D hydrodynamic shear force for detachment and migration of fines. Both the model and experimental results showed that by increasing the injection rate, the amount of effluent fines concentration increases. Results showed that grain size diameter determines the amount of nano particles that will be retained or transported through the porous media. Results also showed that nano particles increase the critical velocity at which fines start to detach from the grain.
