PROF. JOSEPH A. AJIENKA
PROFESSOR JOSEPH A. AJIENKA
Professor Joseph A. Ajienka, is the 7th Vice-Chancellor, University of Port Harcourt (2010-2015), and the Emmanuel Egbogah Chair Professor of Petroleum Engineering, University of Port Harcourt. He was the pioneer Director and member Governing board of the Institute of Petroleum Studies from 2003. He holds BSc with honours from the University of Ibadan, MEng and PhD from the University of Port Harcourt, all in Petroleum Engineering. Professor Ajienka is a registered Engineer (COREN), Member of several Professional Bodies among which are Nigerian Society of Engineers, Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Energy Institute (UK). He is a registered Environmental Practitioner (NREP, USA), Fellow of the Institute of Petroleum Studies, Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Management, Fellow Institute of Industrial Administration, Fellow Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals and Fellow Nigerian Environmental Society. His research interest is in area of Production enhancement and ō¬ow assurance.

PROFESSOR MIKE OBI ONYEKONWU
Professor Mike Obi Onyekonwu was the second Director of the Institute of Petroleum Studies University of Port-Harcourt and Chairman of the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN). He was former PTDF Gas Chair Professor of Petroleum and Gas Engineering (2004-2008) at the University of Port- Harcourt. Professor Mike Obi Onyekonwu is the founder and ō«rst Managing Consultant of Laser Engineering and Resources Consultants Limited – an indigenous consultancy outō«t specializing in Reservoir Management Studies, PVT Sampling and Analysis and Slickline Services. Laser Engineering also runs a Geosciences School accredited by National Board of Technical Education. He obtained a BSc. (First Class Honours) degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1978 from University of Ibadan Nigeria. Subsequently, he obtained an MS and PhD degrees in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University California in 1981 and 1985 respectively. Professor Onyekonwu is equally a COREN registered engineer. Professor Mike Onyekonwu is TOTAL Chair Professor, a subject expert in Reservoir Management with research interest in Well Testing, Reservoir Study and Development, Gas Utilization, Formation Evaluation, Enhanced Recovery and Computer Applications.

PROFESSOR OGBONNA F. JOEL
Professor Ogbonna F. Joel is the Centre Leader for the World Bank
Africa Centre of Excellence in Oil Field Chemicals Research (ACECEFOR).
He is the African Regional Representative of National
Registry of Environmental Professionals (NREP, USA). He is also
the Dean, Faculty of Engineering, University of Port Harcourt. He
was the pioneer Director, Centre of Petroleum Research and
Training, Institute of Petroleum Studies, University of Port
Harcourt and one time Director, Emerald Energy Institute (EEI),
University of Port Harcourt. He has also served as the Head of
Department, Petroleum & Gas Engineering, University of Port
Harcourt. He holds a B.Tech. Degree in Chemical/Petro-Chemical
Engineering from University of Science and Technology, Rivers State, M.Sc. in Engineering
Management from University of Benin and Ph.D. degree in Chemical/Petrochemical
Engineering from University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt. Prior to moving to the
University of Port Harcourt, he worked with Halliburton Energy Services, Nigeria for 18years
where he held various Senior Management positions ranging from Technology Manager to
Scientiō«c Advisor. He has several years of International exposure in Halliburton Research Centre,
Duncan, USA, where he worked with experts in oilō«eld chemicals and developed global best
practices in Laboratory Management and research protocols in oilō«eld related chemicals. He is
the managing consultant and founder of POCEMA LTD, an indigenous company that
specializes in local Content Research in oilō«eld Chemicals. Professor Ogbonna Joel is NCDMB
Chair in Petroleum Studies, a Subject expert in drilling Fluid technology and applications. He
specializes also in the management of environmental and pollution control issues in the Oil and
gas Industry.
