Sequence Stratigraphic and Reservoir Evaluation of the Late Miocene Biafra Member Sediments in Ebb Field (OML 123), Southeastern Niger Delta
Contribution to knowledge:
This study built a sequence stratigraphic model and characterized identified reservoirs of the Miocene Biafra Member of the Agbada Formation in 'EBB' field. The integrated approach to micropaleontologic investigation in this field provides a new vista especially for challenging environments were biofacies preservation is poor. Furthermore, the sequence stratigraphic surfaces marking events delineated in this research offer new correlatable surfaces for studies that might be carried out on nearby fields. Elements of the petroleum system were well delineated. Study carried out detailed reservoir characterization which has widened the understanding of the stratigraphy and sedimentology of the Eastern offshore Niger Delta. The study has shown that play opportunities exist beyond currently exploited depths of EBB field and other fields with similar characteristics.
