Biological and Chemical Changes associated with Chronic Exposure of a Cyprinid Fish, Labeo Pseudocoubie, to Crude Oil Activities in Niger-Benue/Imo River Systems, Nigeria
Contribution to knowledge:
The study; Provided data on water quality variables in oil impacted and non-impacted areas of the Niger-Benue/Imo River System. Provided data on the nutrients and pH levels of the sediment along the studied river systems. Established data on selected metal concentrations in surface water, sediment and cyprinid river systems elucidated the Tot al Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) and Total Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) levels in surface water, sediment and cyprinid river systems. Established data on the proximate composition (chemical composition) of non-impacted areas of the studied river systems. Elucidated the general wellbeing of cyprinid in the oil impacted and non-impacted areas of the studied river systems.
