Design, Fabrication and Testing of fast pyrolysis unit for the production of Bio-Oil
Contribution to knowledge:
A novel process was designed, fabricated and operated, to achieve a true inert environment for fast pyrolysis in a vertical fixed bed reactor using a muffle furnace. The process was used to produce Bio-oil from Nigerian sawdust. A model has also been developed to predict the yield of bio-oil at varying temperatures, gas 􀃬ow rate and particle size at a constant heating rate. Optimum conditions for producing bio-oil from Nigerian hardwood has been documented.
