Discipline: Engineering
Utilization of Local Cassava Starch as Drilling Fluid Additive
Contribution to knowledge:
The study confirmed that starches from some local cassava cultivars are suitable as drilling fluid additives and developed model equations to relate physicochemical properties of cassava starches and mud properties. Rheological model parameters were estimated for drilling mud treated with local cassava starches. Significant differences were found in physicochemical properties of cassava starches and imported starch.
Supervisors:
Dr. Harry, Tubotamuno Ford, was jointly supervised by Prof. Ogbonna F. Joel (Department of Gas Engineering, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria), Dr. (Mrs.) Falilat T. Ademiluyi (Department of Chemical Engineering, Rivers State University of Science & Technology, Port Harcourt) and Dr. Koyejo Oduola (Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria).
