Second WACEENET Symposium on May 30, 2022.

ACE-CEFOR was one of the ACE Impact centres that took part in the second West Africa Centres of Excellence on Energy Network (WACEENET) Regional Symposium, which took place on Monday, May 30, 2022. The theme of the symposium was “Harnessing Clean Energy for Sustainable Development”. The symposium featured a Keynote presentation titled, “Integrated Resource Planning for National Electric Power Infrastructure – a Vehicle for sustainable Development” by World Bank Subject Matter Expert, Prof. Joseph Mutale, of the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. The symposium also featured presentations by the five Centre Leaders of WACEENET on the summary of activities in their various centres, for the past one year. ACE-CEFOR Centre Leader, Prof. Ogbonna Joel presented on behalf of the Centre. There were also thematic presentations on each Centre’s perspectives on Clean Energy and Sustainable Development, by one faculty of each member Centre. Dr. Victor Aimikhe, ACE-CEFOR Safeguards Officer, presented on behalf of ACE-CEFOR. His paper was titled, “Natural Gas: An Energy Source for Sustainable Development”. Two students from each Centre also made presentations on Clean Energy and Sustainable Development. ACE-CEFOR was represented by Ms. Dominica Una and Mr. Christian Owebor. Ms. Una’s presentation was titled, “Clean Energy for All”, while Mr. Owebor’s presentation was titled, “Integrated Power Generation for Low Environmental Impact”.
