Professor Wumi Iledare is the GNPC Chair in Petroleum Economics and Management, Institute of Oil and Gas Studies, University of Cape Coast and also Chirota & Emmanuel Egbogah Distinguished Professor of Petroleum Economics, Policy and Strategic Studies. He is Director, SPE Africa Region and Member Board of the Society of Petroleum Engineers International (SPEi), Richardson, TX, USA. He was Director of Emerald Energy Institute, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. A Professor Emeritus of Petroleum Economics and Policy Research at Center for Energy Studies at Louisiana State University, He holds a B.Sc. degree in Petroleum Engineering with honors from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and a Ph.D. in Mineral Economics from West Virginia University with specialization in oil and gas economics and policy analysis. Professor Iledare was a petroleum/reservoir engineer for Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in Nigeria, a reservoir/production engineer trainee with Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), and served briefly as an energy specialist with the California Energy Commission, USA. In addition to teaching and public policy research, Professor Iledare also participates actively in professional organizations related to energy and the oil and gas business. He is a member of the executive governing council, a former Vice President of Finance, the 2013 President-Elect and the 2014 President of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE). Professor Iledare is a founding advisor to the Nigerian Association for Energy Economics – an IAEE affiliated organization, and the founding President of the Association of Nigerian Petroleum Professionals Abroad (ANPPA). Professor Iledare received the SPE regional award for distinguished contribution to petroleum engineering in the area of management and information and other SPE Nigeria Council awards, including the Best Paper Technical Presentation, Service, and Recognition award.
