Professor Gregory Avwiri is the Dean, Graduate School of Natural, Applied and Medical Sciences, University of Port Harcourt. He is currently the Team Leader, Environmental Physics Research Group in the Department of Physics, University of Port Harcourt, with main focus on radiation, occupational noise and corrosion studies. Professor Avwiri graduated from University of Port Harcourt, B.Sc. (1988) – Physics/Electronics, M.Sc. (1991), Solid State Electronics) and PhD (2000), Environmental Physics from Rivers State University of Science and Technology. He has held several positions including Head, Physics Department (2006 2008), and Mathematics and Statistics Department (2009-2012) and has served in several committees within and outside the university.
