PROFESSOR EMEKA EMMANUEL OGUZIE

Emeka Emmanuel Oguzie is currently the Director of Research & International Development at FUTO and also Head, Department of Environmental Technology, FUTO. He has been a Reader in the Department of Chemistry, Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) since 2010 and leads the multidisciplinary Electrochemistry and Materials Science Research Unit. Professor Oguzie holds a B.Sc. in Pure Chemistry from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry from FUTO and Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Calabar. He was a visiting (CAS-TWAS) postdoctoral research fellow (2006-2007) and TWAS-UNESCO Associate (2008-2011) at Institute of Metal Research, Shenyang China. Professor Oguzie’s research interests include electrochemical & computational investigation of corrosion phenomena and development of environmentally friendly corrosion inhibiting additives from biomass extracts. He has made outstanding pioneering contributions towards unraveling the mechanism of action of biomass extracts, by means of quantum chemical computations and has over 100 publications in international journals to his credit.
