During the month of March 2022, the Africa Centre of Excellence in Oilfield Chemicals Research (ACE-CEFOR), was one of the two ACE Centres of the University of Port Harcourt, that took part in a joint Resource Assessment and Accreditation visit from the National Universities Commission (NUC). The visit was to accredit the programmess of ACE-CEFOR and the Africa Centre of Excellence for Public Health and Toxicological Research (PUTOR), University of Port Harcourt. The ACE-CEFOR programmess for accreditation were;
1. MSc and PhD Natural Resources and Environmental Management
2. MSc Geosciences & PhD Geology
3. PhD Chemistry and PhD Industrial Chemistry
4. MSc and PhD Occupational Health and Safety
5. MSc and PhD Environmental Technology & Management
6. MSc Gas Refining and Petrochemical Engineering; MSc Petroleum Engineering and Project Development; PhD Chemical Engineering; PhD Petroleum and Gas Engineering and
7. PhD Microbiology and PhD Biotechnology
The ACE-PUTOR programmes for accreditation were;
1. MSc and PhD Environmental Health; MSc, PhD and Master of Public Health; MSc and PhD Epidemiology and MSc and PhD Health Systems and Management
2. MSc Midwifery/Child Health Nursing, MSc Public Health Nursing and MSc Fertility Nursing
3. MSc and PhD Biochemistry
4. MSc and PhD Toxicology; PhD Environmental Toxicology; MSc Petroleum Environmental Toxicology and MSc and PhD Environmental Pollution Studies and
5. MSc Public Health Communication
12 Panels consisting of 48 members assessed the programs from Monday March 14, to Friday March 18, 2022. The University is awaiting results of the accreditation exercise.
